Julia Reich, Principal & Creative Director
Bio »
Julia has a strong design, business and leadership background, having been in several senior design director roles in New York City and for the past eleven years as the founder and creative director of Julia Reich Design. She oversees the firm’s creative studio on a variety of innovative nonprofit branding & design projects. During her career she has participated in NY Designs, a unique design business incubator; was winner of the 2009 Small Business Award from the Cayuga County NY Chamber of Commerce; and has been featured in several design books. She is a former environmental educator and holds degrees from Pratt Institute in New York City and Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
In addition to running a design and branding studio for nonprofits, Julia is a writer, blogger and public speaker on issues ranging from local food to nonprofit branding. She has held several leadership positions in her local community over the years and is active in her local Toastmasters club.
Before all of this, she was an urban park ranger in Central Park, smoothie-maker, Humane Society pet caretaker, nature camp counselor, and outreach astronomy teacher for a science museum using a giant, blow-up, portable planetarium.
Raised in suburban NJ, spent most of her 20’s and 30’s living in Manhattan, now living and working in the Finger Lakes region of central NY state, and can often be found exploring local woods and fields with her two rescued coonhounds, Rory and Umber, or catering to the many needs of her many cats (also all rescued). She appreciates fellow introverts, and enjoys wine tasting; feeding people; Dairy Queen blizzards; watching documentary films; swing dancing with her husband; playing frisbee and Settlers of Catan; and having a Sunday entirely devoted to being creative in the kitchen.
